What is the best way of handling weapons in Dragon Age Origins: two-handed, sword and shield, or dual wield?

I want to be able to do a good amount of damage, but be able to defend myself well too. Which type of weapon handling should I choose? (I will be the tank). What is the best way of handling weapons in Dragon Age Origins: two-handed, sword and shield, or dual wield?
If you are going to be a tank you will want to use shield and sword the shield gives you extra defense so you'll be able to take a beating for longer without dieing and as a tank thats what you want. Also even though two handed deals a lot of damage it is slow many times by the time you're finishing swinging your weapon the enemy has moved out of range and with shield and sword if one of your companions is grabbed by an ogre and he wont let go you can use shield bash to potentially get the ogre to let go which is nice since thats usually a death sentence for who ever was grabbed. I've tried playing a tank with all three weapon sets and have found shield and sword is most effective otherwise you tend to lose health quickly and die easily and once the tank is dead all the other companions are at risk. What is the best way of handling weapons in Dragon Age Origins: two-handed, sword and shield, or dual wield?
well if your the tank its sort of obvious. 2 handed for maximum power. however id go with the dual wield cuz u get a little less damage with one sword than u would with the 2handed, but u have 2 swords so ur doing more damage by dual wielding and you can defend better too. shield and sword would be best for defense but i hate the shield, its also really slow. go with the dual wield. good with defense and good attack
